Taylor Swift mines platinum like the rest of us have hot meals: with monotonous regularity. Now, a cover of a TayTay song has hit precious metal.
Post-hardcore act I Prevail did something different when they covered Swift’s 1989-era hit “Blank Space” back in December 2014. The noisy cover peaked at No. 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 9 on Hot Rock Songs and in August 2016, turned gold. More than four years on, it’s been awarded platinum status by the RIAA, for surpassing one million digital units.
It’s the first-ever platinum award for the Michigan quartet, which completed its months long Trauma Tour this week, in support of their sophomore album Trauma (Fearless Records), which dropped in March. They’ll return to the road next month for the Degenerates Tour in support of A Day to Remember. 9;l
